LWC hosts school for Methodist ministers

Elizabeth Smith of Augusta, Ky., spent a long time reflecting on whether she was called be a pastor in The United Methodist Church.

"For several years I felt like there was a calling in my life," said Smith, who is now a leader at Strawberry United Methodist Church in Fleminsburg, Ky. "I wasn't sure until a couple years ago when God made it more clear to me."

Relay For Life June 13, 2008 full schedule

Teams have been formed; money is being raised through all kinds of fun activities, T-shirts are being printed, survivors have registered, luminary forms are being circulated and Adair County is in high gear for our twelfth annual Relay For Life event taking place Friday evening, June 13, 2008 at Booster Football Field behind Adair County Middle School (the old high school). Columbia-Adair County Industrial Authority meets Wednesday

The Columbia - Adair County Industrial Authority (CACIDA) will be meet Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at 8:00amCT in the Board Room of the Chamber of Commerce Building, 201 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY. The meeting is open to the public.

CACIDA's board meets regularly each second Wednesday of the month at 8:00amCT, at the Chamber Building, 201 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY. The Chairman is Roger Drake; other members are Barry Corbin, Monica Rogers, Tony Corbin, Doug McCammish, and Jim Miller were present, as were Executive Director Sue Stivers, Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton, and Mayor Pat Bell, who are members of the Board by virtue of their offices.

Major storm causes heavy damage in Adair last night

County road crews still working this morning to clean up roads in and around the Vester area, after clearing passages last night. Current out in some areas. Storm took Southwest to North-Northwest patch, hopping up and down. High winds mixed with big hail punish area around Vester

A major storm hit Adair County last night at around 9:30pm, closing roads with downed trees, cutting off power in some areas, and delivering hail damage in others.

Damage is reported from KY 900 in the Glens Fork area, where, according to Gale Cowan in the County Judge Executive's office a tree fell on three cars, to Knifley, where trees are down on the Tucker Woods Road.

County Judge Ann Melton was out this morning examining the roads. When reached, she was on the Beulah Chapel Road, where a tree had blocked the road for one family at the end of the road. "We had a lot of damage," she said, "but no one was hurt, as far as I have heard so far.

Annual Chamber Picnic is Tuesday, June 17, 2008

The annual Columbia-Adair County Chamber Picnic will be held Tuesday, June 17, 2008, beginning at 6:30pmCT at the Roadside Park on Hwy. 55 South.

A meal will be served at a cost of $5.00 per person, payable at the picnic. Entertainment will be led by Mark Harris, Chief of Police, City of Columbia.

L.E.A.D. Adair County will honor their graduates.

Adair firemen extinguish LBN Parkway grass fire

The Adair County Fire Departmentt responded to a grass fire at 3:53pmCT, Monday, June 9, 2008, at the 36 Mile Marker on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway, near the Metcalfe County line. There were 4 firemen on the scene for around 30 minutes.
