She was a member of a prominent NE Adair County Family and a member of the Purdy Separate Baptist Church

Thera Hardwick, 91, 8205 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 3:10pm, at her home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 1:00pmCT at Purdy Separate Church with Bro. Junior Holmes, Bro. Jamie Bryant, and Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 4:00pmCT, Friday, April 25, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, and Saturday morning, April 26, 2008, and after 12:00noonCT, at the church.

Friends of the Library meeting re-scheduled

The Adair County Friends of the Library meeting has been cancelled today since the Adair County Public Library is closing today at noon. We will meet again on May 22, 2008. -CHARLOTTE CHANDLER.

Absentee voting machine ready now in County Clerk's office

Adair County County Court Clerk Sheila Blair will keep office open Saturday mornings between now and election day. Deadline for receipt of application to vote by mail is May 13, 2008

The absentee machine is now ready for people who will be out of town on election day to come in and vote. Voters may cast their vote during regular office hours, Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 4:00pmCT.

We will also be open the following Saturdays for people who work out of town and will be absent from the county election day: April 26th, May 3rd, May 10th, and May17th during the hours of 8:30am to 12:00pmCT. The office is located in the Adair County Annex Building on the Square in Downtown Columbia, KY.

Also, a reminder for those who vote a paper absentee, the deadline for the application to be received in the office is May 13th. If anyone has any questions they can call the clerk's office at (270) 384-2801 or (270) 384-4007.

Outdoor Venture is Silver Sponsor PRIDE Spring Cleanup

Outdoor Venture Corporation donated $5,000 to support southern and eastern Kentuckys annual Spring Cleanup campaign. The company was a Silver-Level Sponsor of the 2008 PRIDE Spring Cleanup, which ran from April 5 to 19, 2008. OVC is headquartered in Stearns in McQueary County, KY.

The Boatman and 3 more movies coming to Columbian

Nathan Compton, manager of the ColumbianTheatre, will have more on this one soon, but Saturday will be the Second showing of "The Boatman," a new movie by Columbian Caleb White, after its premier at UL's Playhouse Theatre in Louisville.

The Boatman will play in a matinee at 2:00pm, Saturday, April 26, 2008. The movie was filmed in Adair County.

Library will close for funeral of Randy Flowers
The Adair County Public Library will close at 12:00 noon Thursday, April 24, 2008, for the funeral of Mrs. Randy Flowers. The library will remain closed for the rest of that day in honor of Mrs. Randy.
