Obituary: Thera Hardwick, 91

She was a member of a prominent NE Adair County Family and a member of the Purdy Separate Baptist Church

Thera Hardwick, 91, 8205 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 3:10pm, at her home.

The funeral service will be Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 1:00pmCT at Purdy Separate Church with Bro. Junior Holmes, Bro. Jamie Bryant, and Bro. David Coffey the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 4:00pmCT, Friday, April 25, 2008, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, and Saturday morning, April 26, 2008, and after 12:00noonCT, at the church.



She was born May 14, 1916, the daughter of the late Sidney and Mary Lee Burton. She was the widow of Ervin G. Hardwick, who preceded her in death on December 14, 1987.
She is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters: Bernadine Robertson and her husband Phillip, Greensburg, KY; Peggy Burton, Columbia, KY; and Charolotte Collins and her husband, Charles Russell Springs, KY

  • One brother: Elbert Burton, Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Sue Fisette, Edinburgh, IN

  • Eight grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild

  • A special caregiver: Stella Callahan

  • Several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends
She was peceded in death by three brothers and six sisters: Carl Burton, Waymon Burton, and Nolan Burton; and Lillie McGaha, Rosa Burton, Velma Pyles, Ethel McQueary, Reeda Goodin, and Mabel Wilson.

She was a member of Purdy Separate Baptist Church, a former Green Thumb worker, and a homemaker.

Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Bearwallow Cemetery Fund or Purdy Separate Baptist Church Building Fund and may be made at the funeral home.
