Remembering Randy Flowers: A cherished neighbor To all who knew and loved Randy Flowers: Randy and Alfred Flowers and their sons were not just my next-door neighbors growing up on Greensburg Street; they were and are part of my extended and close family. Flowers on one side, Montra and Richard Wethington on the other; couple that with my parents Dr. Todd and Ilene Jeffries and you can see how blessed I was to live in the wonderful Greensburg St. neighborhood...the Judds, Allisons, Collins, Dillons, Clarkes, Cobbs, Burleys + Montgomerys, Chapmans, Dillions, Cunagins, Comers, Troutmans, Dohoneys, Abels, Caldwells and others who became neighbors through my childhood years are all a part of who I am today, because I learned something from each of them. Randy was special, close in my life, as is Alfred; both have been a cherished part of all of my life along with their sons Jim, Robert and Joseph, whose friendship remains so important. Columbia, Adair County has lost a valuable friend and long-time community asset. Beginning this summer, Lindsey Wilson will offer a master's degree in education. The unique program, which is open only to full-time teachers, will be offered on weekends. Earth Day and Arbor Day celebrated at ACHS, CWC Earth Day and Arbor Day were celebrated by students from ACHS and CWC. Environmental Science students from Adair County High School mentored 1st grade students from CWC. Mini-lessons were taught on the history of Arbor Day and the importance of being good stewards for the earth. Great news, the Cleveland Pear tree is back in stock at Tucker's Station Farms. If you haven't heard about the Cleveland Pear yet it is an improved version of the Bradford Pear. The Cleveland Pear has the same formal shape and the beautiful white spring blossoms of the Bradford Pear but it is stronger and able to withstand more wind, ice and snow than the Bradford Pear. CU adds Master of Social Work degree With additional degree at Carver School of Social Work, Campbellsville University now offers 11 Master's Degrees By Joan C. McKinney, director of university communications CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University now offers a master of social work degree that is offered in an evening and online format to accommodate the non-traditional working student, according to Dr. Darlene Eastridge, Dean of the Carver School of Social Work and Counseling. Dr. Eastridge said the new master's degree is a program "intended for people employed in social work positions who need a graduate degree for promotion or licensure yet who are unable to travel to urban areas and who are forced to settle for degrees that do not meet qualifications for social service supervisory positions."
