LW Womens Golf leads MSC Spring Tournament ColumbiaMagazine.com SPORTS Jessica Smith is in first place after the first round By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director The Lindsey Wilson College womens golf team leads after the first round of the Mid-South Conference Spring Tournament hosted by Georgetown (KY) College at Cherry Blossom Golf Club. Standings after round one Pos./Team/Score
University of the Cumberlands (KY) is fourth with a 380. Lindsey Wilson sophomore Jessica Smith leads at the halfway point following her one-under par 71 (37-34). Smiths round, which consisted of eight birdies, is a career best. Smith leads junior teammate Aline Decker by six strokes heading into tomorrows final round. Decker, playing as an individual, shot a five-over par 77 (37-40). Lindsey Wilson senior Jessica Robertson (40-40), sophomore Krista Burton (38-42) and freshman Chelsey Key (39-41) are tied for third with first round 80s. Sophomore Cheslee Elkins is tied for sixth following an 82 (36-46) and senior Beth Cooper is eighth with an 83 (39-44). Cumberlands Kayla Peace (40-42) is tied with Elkins at 82 and Georgetowns Jessica Collins (40-46) and Campbellsvilles Cheris Evans (41-45) are tied for ninth following 86s.
