ACHS Class of 1984 reunion June 5 & 6, 2009

The dates have been set and reservations made for the Class of 1984 of Adair County High School. It will be June 5th and 6th 2009. The SPIRITUAL LEADER of the PRIDE movement in Adair County, A.L. Sinclair, in a thoughtful mood at the PRIDE picnic at Mt. Carmel Boat Ramp Park today. Sinclair, now Adair County Solid Waste Coordinator, was able to see decades of effort show tremendous results in Adair County, particularly in the area he's sought to instill: Public consciousness of the environment in Adair County.

Obituary, Kathrene Cravens, 94, member Oak Grove Church

She was the matriarch of a large, respected Adair Co. family. She leaves 49 living descendants.

Kathrene Cravens age 94 years of 108 Montgomery Street, Columbia, KYpassed away, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 10:03 PM at her home after severalweeks illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 4:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Danny Roy the officiating clergy.

Registration deadline for 2008 May 20 primary 9 days away

April 12, 2008

The last day to register to vote is Monday, April 21, 2008, just 9 days away.

The Kentucky Primary is on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, is just 38 days from now, and a number of important primaries, including US Presidential, US Senate, and 51st District (Adair and Taylor) State Representative primary races are on the ballot.

Those qualified to vote may register in the office of Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair during regular hours, 8:00am to 4:00pmCT, Monday through Friday, April 14-18, 2008, and on Monday, April 21. The office is now closed on Saturdays.

Registration books are closed starting April 22, 2008, through May 27, 2008.

In addition to voter registration, the County Clerk's Office also records deeds, issues marriage licenses, records wills, licenses vehicles, issues dog licenses, and records delinquent county taxes.

The office of Adair County Court Clerk Sheila Blair is in the Adair Annex Building on the Square in Downtown Columbia. Office phones are (270) 384-2801 and(270) 384-4007. The fax is (270) 384-4805.

Besides the County Court Clerk, office employees include Libby Radford, Shelia Hayes, Sonya Reeder, Melissa Melton, Cassie Melton, Becky Rogers, and Freda Melton.

    First and Farmers Relay 4 Life Co-ed Volleyball Tournament
    First and Farmers National Bank will be having a Co-ed Volleyball Tournament Saturday, April 12. It will be limited to the first 12 teams to sign up. It will be double elimination, and will serve off at 9:00 a.m. You can stop by our main office location on the square and see Stacey Popplewell or myself for your team roster sign-up. Rosters must be turned by Friday, April 4, 2008. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place teams. We will also be serving refreshments as well.     Team SWAT (Sarah's Whipping Astrocytoma Team) Relay For Life Team is sponsoring a Three on Three Basketball Tournament on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Adair County High School gymnasium. Games start at 10:00amCT and teams must be there by 9:30amCT to register. There is a $50.00 entry fee, each team must have five players and each team is guaranteed two games.     Higher Praise Church, Russell Springs, KY, and Praise Assembly of God, Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY, wil hold Captivate 2008 on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 10am to 1:00pmCT, at the Adair County Fairgrounds, 411 Fairgrounds Street, Columbia, KY.
