Obituary, Kathrene Cravens, 94, member Oak Grove Church

She was the matriarch of a large, respected Adair Co. family. She leaves 49 living descendants.

Kathrene Cravens age 94 years of 108 Montgomery Street, Columbia, KYpassed away, Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 10:03 PM at her home after severalweeks illness.

The funeral service will be Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 4:00pm at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Danny Roy the officiating clergy.



She was born December 7, 1913, the daughter of the late Chalmers and Gertrude Logsdon Powell.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Cravens on June 9, 1979.

She is survived by the following:
  • One son survives:
  • Leon Cravens of Columbia, KY
  • Four daughters: Frances Harmon of Columbia, KY; Cecile Alley of Columbia, KY; Norene Harmon of Columbia, KY; Raydean Burton of Columbia, KY

  • One sister: Rachel Louise Corbin of Salem, IN

  • Fourteen grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends

  • A dear friend and caregiver: Lola Cape of Columbia, KY
She was preceded in death by two sons, Leonard Earl Cravens on July 22, 1969, and by Melvin Thomas Cravens on April 29, 2002; a sister, Dorothy Cloar and two brothers, Oliver Powell and Bobby Myers and by one granddaughter, Brenda Kay Alley.

Mrs. Cravens was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Grove Church of God of Prophecy.

Interment will be in the Freedom Cemetery.

The family requests visiting after 12noon on Saturday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Saturday, April 12, 2008.
