Obituary: Gertrude Grady, 95, member, First Baptist Church

OBITUARIES

Mrs. Grady was the head of a large, highly respected family. She leaves 59 living descendants. She was a true Christian and a pillar in Columbia's First Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the choir. She served as a missionary and led all her own children to Christ.

Gertrude Grady, age 95 years, Louisville, KY, formerly of Columbia, KY, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at 9:00pm at the Rockford Manor Nursing home in Louisville, KY, after a short illness.

The funeral service will be Monday, March 24, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at First Baptist Church, Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. Leon Lasley, Jr., and Rev. Henry Mosley the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Grady-Jone Cemetery near Gradyville, KY.

Mrs. Pyles was a member of a large, highly respected Northeast Adair County family

Laura Belle Pyles, 84, 549 Millerfield Road, Columbia, KY, passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at 2:55amCT, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab.

The funeral service will be Sunday, March 23, 2008, at 1:00pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, with Bro. David Coffey officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Many of your readers, I'm sure, read about my granddaughter in the Community Voice a few weeks ago, and I am happy to report that little Ruby is doing well.

Ruby was born on February 9th at Westlake Hospital weighing in at 1 pound 3 ounces and a whopping 10 inches long. As of yesterday, she has grown to 15 inches, and tips the scales at 2 pounds, 3 ounces.

Items include: handmade end tables, clocks, and other misc. handmade craft items, girls clothes size 12-14, Junior girl clothes, prom dresses, household items, old school desk, recess lights (these are the ones that are flush with the ceiling), and lots of misc. items.     First and Farmers Relay 4 Life bake sale
    First and Farmers National Bank will be a having a bake sale Friday, March 21. The location will be at our main office located on the square.We will have all kinds of delectable treats for everyone to purchase. It will begin when our doors open at 8:30 a.m. and will last until we sell out of everything we have. All funds will go to Relay 4 Life for the American Cancer Society.
