Greensburg native Mary Taylor Huntsman co-authors play

Play runs through Sunday, February 17, 2008 in Louisville

By David Cazalet, Jr.

Somerset Community College Librarian Mary Taylor Huntsman is the co-author of one of the twenty-four 60-75 second plays that make up "Elevator Plays 2: Beyond the Norm." The plays are being performed by the Specific Gravity Ensemble (SGE) on the elevators in the Starks Building located in downtown Louisville. The Starks Building is located at Fourth Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard. The plays runs through Sunday, February 17, 2008.

According to Sherry Deatrick, writing for Louisville's LEO Magazine, "three elevator plays take place while going up, and the fourth is the "control" elevator, carrying the actors, who will change places with the up elevators, for the downward ride. Each play lasts only 60 to 75 seconds."

Mary James dishes it out

Here is a cookbook to be read with joy!

I have not made a single recipe from it yet, but I think I've gained at least five pounds just reading. This week Mary James [Moss] Lawrence sent me a copy of Mary James dishes it out: Favorite Recipes and Personal Teaching Notes (Roosters Gourmet Market and Gifts, 2007).

Your chance to get a signed copy of this fine cookbook and to try some bites therefrom will come on this Valentine Day.

Pinewood Country Club fund drive now over $20,000

By Ed Waggener

Pinewood President V.T. Yarberry announced that over $20,000 has been raised in the current fund drive to meet current obligations of Pinewood Country Club. "I still optimistic we'll be able to meet our goal of $30,000 by March 1," he said.

Most of the gifts to the drive are in the $1,000 range. "I'm really proud of all those members who are helping us get through this financial problem," he said. "And, just as much, we appreciate those people who aren't members and don't even play golf who have stepped up to help," he said. "They understand the role Pinewood plays in economic development in Adair County."
