Jean Grant, 63, of 2712 Highway 55 South, Columbia, KY, died Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 7:38pmCT, at her home, after an illness.

The funeral service will be Saturday, January 26, 2008, at 3:00pm, at Grissom-Martin Funeral home with Bro. Danny Brummett officiating.

Adair County Water District Manager Lenny Stone, Operator (C3) Aaron Osborne, Office Manager Jennifer Carter, Greg Murrell (C4), Water Plant Manager Larry Rooks, and David Pittman (C3) are now the entire Adair County Water Treatmetn Plant operating and management staff. Today, after water from the plant started through the mains to Columbia, Cane Valley, and Holmes Bend, the plant became the sole supplier of water for all of Adair County.

Adair County Water plant is now supplying Columbia

Water from the new Adair County Water Plant is now flowing to the entire system all over Adair County, Adair County Water District Manager Lenny Stone said."At around 1:30 today," Stone said, " the plant started the flow to the City of Columbia, Cane Valley, and the Holmes areas." With the additions of those areas, all of Adair County is served from the $14 million plant on Griffin Springs Road just north of Coburg.The city's water plant is "idling," Stone said. That is, the plant will be kept in readiness to start producing water should the need arise.

Pinewood CC Fund Drive over halfway to $30,000 goal

New management policies include better business management, getting sound long-term financing, and a membership drive this year to nearly double the current 100 membership. It is still a battle, but this one appears destined to be won. Pinewood Country Club is on a path to financial security, greater community involvement, and readiness to play its role in community development, its President V.T. Yarberry says.

A special fund drive to raise $30,000 for Pinewood Country Club is over the halfway point, just three weeks after its start.

"We've got $15,000 already pledged," Yarberry,said this morning. That was just before he took a cell call from another board member who was reporting another $500 pledge.
