Meg Wellnitz Appleton enters guilty pleas

  • Sentencing scheduled for January 25, 2005
  • Prosecutor Brian Wright makes recommendations
Margaret Ann "Meg" Wellnitz Appleton pleaded guilty to three counts in Adair Circuit Court today, Tuesday, January 4, 2005, in connection to the February, 26, 1993, murders of her mother, Elizabeth "Beth" Wellnitz: her step-father, veterinarian Dr. Joseph Wellnitz: and her brother, Dennis.

Adair Circuit Judge James Weddle, Liberty, is presiding in the case.

The crimes occurred at the Wellnitz home and clinic on Conover Lane. The location is just past the first Russell Creek Bridge and south off Russell Road/East Highway 80.

Adair native Richards makes news at the capital



2005-01-04 - Frankfort, KY - Photo Linda Waggener. ADAIR NATIVE JODY RICHARDS will keep his job as Speaker of the House of Representatives after a challenge by Rep. Rob Wilkey from Franklin who campaigned for a change. The challenge was the first in his 10-year position as Speaker. Congratulations, Jody!

KSP arrests two more in drug crack-down

Two persons were arrested in separate actions in Columbia on Tuesday, January 4, 2005. Both were lodged in the Adair County Jail.

Both arrests are the results of an ongoing investigation by KSP Detctive Scott Hammond and the HIDTA Drug Task Force.

FSA NEWS: Sign-up Deadline January 13 for Ewe Lamb Program

Late filed provisions will not apply

December 30, 2004. The sign up deadline for applying for benefits under the Ewe Lamb Replacement and Retention Payment Program (ELRRPP) has just been announced. All applications for payment must be filed and received in county FSA offices by close of business January 13, 2005. Late filed provisions will not apply.
