Carolyn Jo Keltner, 74, Frankfort, KY (1949-2024)

Carolyn Jo Keltner, beloved wife, mother, friend, and soon-to-be grandmother, passed away on January 24, 2024. Born in Lebanon, Kentucky, on March 3, 1949, she was the proud daughter of Sambo and Ethelean Keltner of Adair County, both of whom preceded her in death, along with her younger brother, Samuel Wayne Keltner.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4pmET until 7pmET on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, 312 Washington Street, Frankfort, KY.

Carolyn received her Bachelors from Campbellsville College and her Masters from Western Kentucky University. She was an English teacher and educational administrator for 33 years and a pillar of the community, supporting the Franklin County Women's Shelter and the Paul Sawyier Public Library.

Carolyn was a go-getter, an advocate, and she was extremely excited to welcome her new granddaughter. She loved traveling, going out to social events with "The Girls", and Sunday lunches with family. She was incredibly creative and loved playing Mahjong.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Bob Schmitt, her two sons Kyle Givens (Liana) and Andrew Payton (Alison), and two siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donations to the Franklin County Women's Shelter or the National Book Foundation in Carolyn's name.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harrod Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory. Condolences may be made to the online guestbook at www.harrodbrothers.com.
