Samuel ''Sambo'' Keltner, 78

Samuel "Sambo" Keltner, 78, 503 Coburg Lane, Columbia, KY (the Coburg Community in Adair County), passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, at 3:45 p.m., at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia, KY, after several months illness.

The funeral service will be Monday, June 7, 2004, at 1:00 p.m., Central Time at Stotts-Phelp-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, KY.


He was the son of the late Ervin and Cora Whitlock Keltner of Adair County.

He is survived by his wife, Ethelean Denson Keltner, Columbia, KY, and by the following:
  • Three daughters: Carolyn Keltner, Frankfort, KY; Beverly Wilkins and husband, Tom, Westin, Ontario; and Debbie Rich and husband, Mike, Lexington, KY
  • Seven grandchildren: Lindsey and Ashley Rich, Kyle Givens, Andrew Payton, Samuel W. Wilkins, Simon Wilkins, and Zachary Wilkins
  • One brother, Robert Keltner, Columbia, KY
  • Four sisters: Oreta Morris, Columbia, KY; Helen Montgomery, Columbia, KY; Nancy Cundiff, Campbellsville, KY; and Clarice Emig, Kalamazoo, MI
  • And a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Wayne Keltner, in 1989.

Mr. Keltner was a member of the Cane Valley Baptist Church, a retired farmer, and a member of the Green River Feeder Calf Association.

Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m., Central Time, on Sunday, June 6, at Sotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, Columbia, KY.

Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Columbia, KY.
