Letter: Drive-in memories

Donna Rieder writes:
Carol Perkins' talk about "riding around" brought back memories, especially when she mentioned the A&W drive-in.

My very first job was as a rollerskating waitress at the local A&W. My wage was 75cents an hour plus tips! I made about $50 a week in tips, which in 1972 was really good!

LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 4/9/2021

By Amy Tomlinson
Lake Cumberland District Health Department

Now the COVID-19 vaccinations are open to everyone! Let's finish strong and everyone get the vaccine as soon as you can.

While we saw a local decline in new cases this week, at the state level, the new case rate went up. Last week, for Lake Cumberland, we added 175 new cases, this week, 154. This brought down our 7-day incidence rate from 11.94 new cases per 100,000 per day to 10.51 per 100,00 per day. One death occurred since last Friday. We have 128 active cases today compared to 160 last Friday. However, we have 25 hospitalized COVID-19 cases today compared to 17 last Friday.

Currently, our 7-day average incidence chart is showing 7 counties in the "yellow-community-spread" category, Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne; 2 counties in the "orange-accelerated" range of community-spread: McCreary, and Pulaski; 1 county in the "red-critical" range: Casey. Keep in mind, some of our 7-day-incidence data will be skewed over the next few days as we are reconciling our data against the state data.

Statewide Testing Positivity Rate: 2.79%.
