Jerry L. Jones, 68, Knifley, KY (1952-2021)

Jerry L. Jones of Knifley passed away on Friday, April 9, 2021 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was 68 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Monday, April 12, 2021, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Monday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

For the health and respect of the family, please follow all rules for social distancing and everyone attending will be required to wear a mask or face covering.


He was born in Knifley, KY on July 12, 1952 to the late John R. and Sarah Frances Stapleton Jones and was preceded in death by an infant daughter Jerri Lynn Jones.

Mr. Jones was a member of the Hovious Mission Church. Along with his son they had Jones Construction and built many homes and other projects in the area. He enjoyed working on old tractors and trucks and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Cowan Jones of Knifley, KY; two children Mark Jones (Jennifer) of Knifley and Lissa Ann Armer (David) of Greensburg, KY; four grandchildren Trent Jones (Kayla Marie), Ty Jones, Chase Armer (Hope), Hunter Armer and Brianna Armer (James Dillon Shrout); two great grandchildren Aria and Caleb Armer; five siblings Bernice Beard of Knifley, KY, Carol Greer of Russell Springs, KY, Ellen Foster (Mike) of Campbellsville, KY, Barbara Feese of Columbia, KY and James R. Jones (Pat) of Campbellsville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and infant daughter he was preceded in death by siblings Betty Doris Adams, Johnny Jones and Paula McKinley and two infant siblings.

Pallbearers will be Chase Armer, Ty Jones, Hunter Armer, David Armer, Trent Jones, Mark Jones and Billy Rice. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Foster, Gerald Lucas, Dillon Shrout, Gary Hixson, Johnny Perkins, Jim Keen, Mike Foster and Brianna Armer.
