Basketball: Lady Indians open season against Lady Panthers By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer Adair County Lady Indians Basketball is back! The Tribe returns to the court after a long off season tonight, Tuesday, December 2, 2025, as they take on the Cumberland County Lady Panthers at home. The Lady Indians come off a very successful 17-13 season that saw them wrap up in the 5th Region Tournament. The Lady Panthers, on the other hand, went 19-8 last year and also saw an exit in the first round of the region tournament. The Lady Indians return almost everyone that they ended with last season, not losing any of the their top six scorers. Meanwhile, Cumberland County did not graduate a single senior and looks to return all of their scoring from last year. The Lady Indians will seek to fare better than they did last year when they faced Cumberland County where the Tribe fell 70-37 on the road. Come out and support your Lady Indians as they embark on the 2025-2026 season tonight. The girls tip off at 5:30pmCT, followed by the boys at 7pmCT, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in John Burr Memorial Gymnasium, 526 Indian Drive, Columbia, KY. One ticket grants entry to both games, and tickets can be purchased online at hometownticketing.com. 2025-12-02 14:34:44 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports
Basketball: Indians defeat Panthers 72-58, face more Panthers By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer On Monday, December 1, 2025, the Adair County Indians defeated the Elizabethtown Panthers 72-58 in their season opener at home. The Indians shot the ball well against the Panthers, 59% from the floor and 43% from beyond the three point arc. The team was led in scoring by Senior newcomer Tylin George, with 26 points, followed by Sophomore John Shehan with 16, and Freshman Truk Jennings with 11. Junior Matthew MeJean led the Indians in rebounding, with eight, followed by Shehan with six, and George with five. All in all, it was a very solid start to the season for Adair County, especially without two key players, Dawson Gilbert and Landon Blakey. Adair County does not have long to enjoy the win though, as they are back on the court on Tuesday against the Cumberland County Panthers. The Panthers battled and overcame the Tribe last year in the second game of the season in Burkesville, snapping a 12 game winning streak for Adair County over Cumberland County going all the way back to 2012. However, both the Panthers and the Tribe are different teams than they were last season. Adair County saw a majority of the key players from last year graduate, and Cumberland County lost some 46% of their scoring from last year. The Indians are 1-0, and that is cause for celebration. Come out and celebrate with your Indians tonight as they take on Cumberland County following the battle between the Lady Indians and Lady Panthers. 2025-12-02 14:32:13 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports
Kentuckians encouraged to get RealID before holiday air travel From Naitore Djigbenou/Allen Blair Frankfort, KY - With the holidays quickly approaching, Team Kentucky is encouraging Kentuckians to secure a REAL ID before boarding a commercial flight within the United States to ensure a smooth travel experience. Thanks to several customer service improvements, in-and-out times at Driver Licensing Regional Offices have been significantly reduced in recent months, making it easier to upgrade or renew a license. REAL ID enforcement took effect on May 7, 2025, requiring anyone flying domestically or visiting a military base to present a REAL ID-compliant credential, such as a valid passport or a REAL ID driver's license, permit or ID card. State law gives Kentuckians the choice of a standard or REAL ID license or ID, and about 45% have opted for a REAL ID-compliant card.
