ACJE Bryant welcomes Veteran Robert Bryant

By Bridget Compton, Adair County Deputy Judge Executive

Adair County Judge Executive Larry Russell Bryant welcomed Veteran Robert Bryant for a visit to Fiscal Court Thursday. During the visit, the Judge purchased a Veteran's parking sign to be installed at the annex parking lot.

Judge Bryant encourages all businesses in Columbia and Adair County to consider purchasing a Veteran's parking sign, not only as a way to honor our Veterans, but also to support a great cause. All proceeds from sign sales go toward scholarships for the children and grandchildren of Veterans. For more information, please contact the Adair County VFW Post or call Robert Bryant at (270) 572-1658.

On Tuesday, October 21, 2025, the Lady Indians took Campbellsville in straight sets 3-0 in the first round of the 20th District Tournament to move on to face the Taylor County Lady Cardinals in the District Championship. The game will take place at 6pmCT on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Campbellsville High School in Paul J Coop Gymnasium, 230 W. Main St., Campbellsville, KY (Tickets at hometownticketing.com).

With the win over Campbellsville, the Lady Indians also punched their ticket to the Fifth Region Tournament for the first time in program history.

This year's Lady Indians team have already posted the most wins in school history, with 29 and counting, not to mention the upcoming region tournament appearance, but even more is on the horizon! The Lady Tribe has already defeated Taylor County twice this season. If they do so one more time they will bag the first 20th District title ever, and gain extra momentum heading into the region.

Lindsey Wilson holds Church & University Celebration

By Duane Bonifer

Many things have changed since the rechristening of Lindsey Wilson University on July 1, 2025. But one thing that has remained constant is the school's connection with and commitment to The United Methodist Church.

That 122-year-old relationship was front and center on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in V.P. Henry Auditorium, as the university held its Church & University Celebration. The event -- which was held for more than a quarter-century when the school was Lindsey Wilson College -- was a reminder of the university's deep connection to Methodism, which dates to the school's founding in 1903.

Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. told the audience gathered for the event that Lindsey Wilson strives to be "the model United Methodist university in the 21st century."

"We commit to being a church-related university that seeks to create a community of scholarship and learning which facilitates social justice," said Luckey, who has been Lindsey Wilson's eighth president since 1998. "We commit to being an institution that respects and honors religious practice, and specifically worship and service for students and faculty who choose to participate in the Christian tradition within the total life of the university."

Silent City 2025: Mrs. Mary Triplett Cravens

Mrs. Mary Triplett Cravens was devoted to education, campaigned for the first library in Adair County, and was the county's first Bookmobile driver. "A book doesn't care if you are rich or poor, a book doesn't care if you are black or white, a book doesn't care if you are a boy or a girl. All a book cares about is that you open her up and you get lost in her stories. I encourage each of you to find a good quiet place, find you a good book, open it up and get lost in the magic of literature." Mary Triplett Cravens was portrayed in Silent City 2025 by modern day Adair County Librarian LeeAnn Jessee.

Many thanks to Danielle Bennett for taking video of this performance at Silent City.
