Shot, Stabbed, Hanged and More on the Public Square

By Mike Watson

A unique walking tour of the Public Square in Columbia will highlight a few of the many incidents that have occurred on--and off--the Town Square, illustrating its rich history. Just as the title states, there will be incidents of our varied past illustrated, some in graphic detail.

The tour will be led by Mike Watson and Dave Thomas--fresh off the Lanterns & Tombstones Tours and Silent City Tours. The group will form at the Annex steps, corner of the Square and Greensburg Street, and proceed around the Square at 7pmCT, on the evening of Friday, October 24, 2025.

This is an educational, historical walk back into the wild years of early Columbia, the Civil War, and more. It is not intended for small children, as it can be a bit gory.

Lindsey Wilson University Career Week 2025 is Nov 3-7

By Duane Bonifer

Lindsey Wilson University students will get a sneak peak at what might be at the other end of their college education during the week of November 3-7, 2025.

That's when the university will bring more than three dozen guests to campus as part of "Career Week 2025." Sponsored by the Lindsey Wilson Office of Career Services, the five days will include panel discussions about a myriad of career possibilities opened because of a Lindsey Wilson education, a graduate and professional school fair, and a business etiquette dinner.

Lindsey Wilson Director of Career Services Annissa Crewe-Brown said she came up with the idea for the weeklong event after hosting successful law school panel discussions on campus for Lindsey Wilson students.

"I liked how those events went much deeper than a normal career fair," said Crewe-Brown. "Students not only heard from law school officials, but they also had numerous opportunities to interact with them and ask questions."
