Football: ACHS Indians back in action on Friday

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The Adair County Indians Football team is back! The Tribe will begin the regular season at 7pmCT this Friday, August 22, 2025, against the Russell County Lakers. The game is a home game for Adair County, but will be played at Parnell Family Stadium due to ongoing renovations at the Indians' regular home stadium. Parnell Family Stadium, home of the LWU Blue Raiders, is located at 928 Russell Rd, Columbia, KY.

Adair County has won two straight against the Lakers of Russell County, both of which have been season openers. Both the Indians and the Lakers are coming off successful seasons. The Indians had their best season in nearly a decade, and Russell County ended a streak of sub .500 regular seasons going back to 2020. This game will be a major indicator of how the rest of the season will go for both teams and will be highly informative as each team lost large amounts of production from last season due to graduation.

The Indians will be under the direction of new head coach Bryan Cross, who was on staff last year but will be making his debut as head coach. Much like every season, it can never truly be predicted what a year holds for a team, but what is certain is that football is back! So, come out and support your Indians tomorrow (Friday, August 22nd) at Parnell Family Stadium as they take on Russell County. Admission is $8.00, and tickets are available online at hometownticketing.com.
