Happy Tail: Remi the Beagle

By Peg Schaeffer
Sugarfoot Farm Rescue

I hope you've read the article about "Walking With Shiloh". The Beagle in the book is named Shiloh, but it is based on my Beagle, Remi, who has a neurological disorder.

Remi came here as a puppy with her littermates. Everyone was adopted. A few weeks later, Remi was returned. They said they forgot how much work a puppy is.

Remi was here for a few weeks, and I noticed that she was walking funny on her back legs. I took her to the vet and upon examination and an x-ray it was determined that she had a slight fracture in her hip. He said to keep her quiet for six weeks and it should heal.

Have you ever tried to keep a puppy, especially a Beagle puppy, quiet for six weeks? Nearly impossible. Unfortunately, Remi's walking became more difficult. We were referred to a specialist in Louisville.

LWU Lucretia C. Begley Art Gallery to feature 6 shows in 25-26

By Duane Bonifer

An exhibit that honors the gallery's namesake, works by university alumni and employees, two photography exhibits, and the culmination of students' undergraduate work highlight this year's exhibition schedule at Lindsey Wilson University's Lucretia C. Begley Art Gallery.

The half-dozen shows will offer visitors a wide diversity of art, created in several mediums.

"As Edgar Degas said, 'Art is not what you see, but what you make others see,'" said Lindsey Wilson Performing Arts Director Kristyne Gilbert.

Gilbert, who is also serving her first year as curator of the Begley Gallery, said this year is "an exciting journey for me filled with opportunities to shape narratives, connect artists with audiences, and foster a deeper appreciation for art."

Boot Camp prepares LWU nursing students for their calling

By Duane Bonifer

Lindsey Wilson University student Madilyn Schultz was a little nervous about starting her nursing major this fall. But after participating in the nursing program's boot camp, Schultz said her nerves were put to rest.

"I feel prepared because they were so organized and laid it all out for us," said Schultz, who is from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. "So I'm not nervous anymore."

Schultz was one of 27 members of Lindsey Wilson's new nursing cohort -- one of the largest nursing cohorts Lindsey Wilson has admitted -- that participated in the three-day boot camp.

The program -- which is held a week before fall classes begin on August 25, 2025, helps students understand what the next three years of their Lindsey Wilson careers will involve before they get to the starting line.
