New book, Walking with Shiloh, has Adair Co. connection Noted children's author Katja Klarette is a friend of Adair Countian Peg Schaeffer of Sugarfoot Farm Rescue. Klarette's latest book, "Walking with Shiloh," is about a young girl and her Beagle, Shiloh. Peg says, "Shiloh is actually my Beagle, Remi, who suffers from a neurological disorder. Remi has difficulty walking, but it hasn't stopped her." "Walking with Shiloh" is dedicated to Peg, who Klarette says, "puts her heart and soul into her dream of giving every animal a loving home." "Walking with Shiloh" is published by Creation River Books, and available for purchase on Amazon. The 39-page paperback is geared for readers from 2 - 8 years, and priced at just $12.99. All proceeds from sales of the book will go to animal rescue. Ag Tag donations set another record for 2025 From Madison Pergrem Frankfort, KY - Kentucky farmers donated nearly a million dollars for the Ag Tag Program in 2025. The total, $995,440.74, is the largest amount ever donated in a single year, topping last year's total by more than $60,000, Commissioner of Agriculture Jonathan Shell announced this week. "For that last three years the Ag Tag Program has seen new record-breaking amounts every year," Commissioner Shell said. "This couldn't be possible without the wonderful support from our Kentucky farmers. They see value in supporting the next generation of farmers through their donations to the Ag Tag fund. It's that generosity that will help ensure Kentucky agriculture has a bright future." The voluntary donations are divided equally among Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA, and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA). This year, each group will receive $331,813.58 Since 2016, Kentucky FFA and Kentucky 4-H have received, collectively, more than $4 million from donations made by ag producers renewing their vehicles each year. No reservations are necessary, and there is no cost for the picnic. We do ask members, if possible, to bring an item or items to be auctioned at the picnic. Upstream Academy recruiting local heroes to prevent child abuse From Jill Seyfred Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (PCAK) is on a mission to stop child abuse before it starts, but they can't do it without help from every corner of the Commonwealth. Upstream Academy is a training designed to equip passionate Kentuckians from each of the state's 120 counties to become local advocates in child abuse prevention. The initiative offers free, evidence-based training and provides stipends to remove barriers for those ready to step up. Upstream trainings will be held October 20-21, 2025, in Bowling Green and November 13-14, 2025, in Lexington. Kentuckians from all backgrounds and all counties are encouraged to apply. CU was officially welcomed into the global body of Baptists during its Congress held in Brisbane, Australia in July. Brady Button Memorial Golf Scramble set for Sept 19 The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team will host the Brady Button Memorial Golf Scramble at The Pines at Lindsey Wilson Golf Course in Columbia on Friday, September 19, 2025.
