Dr. James Allen Ewing, Green County, KY Dr. James Allen Ewing, affectionately known as "Big Doc" or "Poppa Doc", the son of the late John Henry Ewing, Jr. and Vivian Muster Ewing, was born on January 22, 1942, in Green County, Kentucky. He passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2025, at 6:38 AM in Campbellsville, Kentucky, at the age of 83. He was united in marriage to Betty Bower Ries on May 1, 1965, and she preceded him in death on March 24, 2024. Dr. Ewing was devoted to Betty for 58 years, cherishing their life together and the family they built. A 100-year-old dress brings Turner cousins together By Linda Waggener Annita Dial, Trilby Vance and I recently shared a conversation around a hundred-year-old dress that brought us together at the Adair Genealogy and History Center. Annita, Adair Genealogist, loved the historic dress donated to the Center by Trilby and had a chance to get more details about it on a trip to Bowling Green to meet with Kay Brock who is a new member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). James Wilbert Vincent, 67, Green County, KY James Wilbert Vincent of Summersville, Kentucky, son of the late Gilbert and Rudell Clark Vincent, was born on December 11, 1957 in Leitchfield, Kentucky. He departed this life on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, having attained the age of 67 years, eight months and two days. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. James enjoyed riding motorcycles, was a member of the American Legion Riders, and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Rod Lowe Squadron 124. Letter: Methodist church parsonage Yvonne Kolbenschlag writes: I believe the parsonage house still exists. When the present church was built, the parsonage was moved, not torn down. It must have been quite a job, because it looks to be a substantial house. Jane Keltner knows the street where it is located. Volleyball: LWU fends off Johnson to sweep season opener Lindsey Wilson outhit its opponents 0.202 to 0.016 en route to a pair of victories on day one of the Roar and Raid Volleyball Invitational on Friday, August 15, 2025. Ola Wyrzykowska averaged 10 kills and 10.5 digs and Ana Clara Beltran Sacca hit 0.485 with 19 kills to pace the Blue Raiders' offensive efforts. Luiza Goncalves dished out 64 assists on the day to go along with 18 digs, a dozen kills, and three service aces, while, defensively, Momo Hampton and Layla HuYoung each contributed 24 digs, and Sofija Pjevic totaled 10 blocks.
