Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Columbia United Methodist Church, 202 Burkesville St, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Ryan Boatwright officiating. Mark Twain Pre-Season Exhibition is Aug 23 The 48th annual Mark Twain Pre-Season Exhibition will begin at 5:15pmCT on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at ACMS Booster Field, 224 Gen. John Adair Drive, Columbia, KY. There will be nine ensembles performing in exhibition, including a first showing of the Adair County Band's 2025 production and a guest performance by the Lindsey Wilson University Band. City hosts reception for new Post 15 Commander From Trey Stephens City of Columbia | Assistant to the Mayor The City of Columbia hosted a reception for Kentucky State Police Post 15 Commander Jennifer Sandlin on Thursday, August 14, 2025, to meet emergency personnel from across the greater Columbia area. Captain Sandlin was transferred to Post 15 in Columbia as the Post Commander on August 1, 2025. Young receives Kentucky Game Warden Life Saving Award Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources presented more than 30 employee awards for outstanding service in 2024 to staff across the agency at an employee awards luncheon at the Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm in Frankfort on July 22, 2025. Among the honorees was Keith Young, Game Warden II, who received the Kentucky Game Warden Life Saving Award. August is National Eye Exam Month From Jill Midkiff/Kim Saylor Brannock Frankfort, KY - Gov. Andy Beshear and the Education and Labor Cabinet's Division of Blind Services encourage Kentuckians to prioritize their eye health by making an appointment with an ophthalmologist during National Eye Exam Month in August. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kentucky has one of the 10 highest rates of visual acuity loss or blindness in the United States. An estimated 93 million adults in the United States have a high risk for serious vision loss, but only half visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months. "Regular eye exams are an important part of taking care of your overall health, regardless of your age, so you can catch problems early and correct vision as soon as possible," Gov. Beshear said. "It's also important to remember that students ages 3-6 starting school for the first time are required to have an eye exam."
