Basketball: Indians split games in Clay County By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer The Adair County High School Boys Varsity Basketball team has wrapped up their first summer ball action with the Tiger Summer Games at Clay County High School on Monday, June 2, 2025. In the first game, the Indians defeated Knott County Central 92-67 in what was a nice win over a solid opponent for the Indians against the defending 53rd District regular season champions. The Indians fell to the Bell County Bobcats 64-55 in the second game. Bell County is coming off a very successful 26-win season and was a tough opponent for Adair County. The Indians starting five for the matchups featured Jaden Wooten, John Shehan, and Samuel Feese, all returning players from last year's squad but ones that did not see the court often last year. Joined by Dawson Gilbert, the lone returning starter from last season's team and lastly LaRue County transfer Landon Blakey, the new face in Columbia who will hope to make a large impact for the Indians in his senior year. Adair County will resume summer ball action in Edmonton on Monday, June 9, 2025, for varsity matchups against Clinton County and Cumberland County at Metcalfe County High School. 2025-06-03 13:52:02 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Sports

The team will face off against Madison Southern at 4pmCT today, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, followed by Pulaski County at 6pmCT. The first matchup comes against a Madison Southern team that went 11-15 last season, but did not graduate a single senior and returns quality players that contributed largely for the Madison Southern Lady Eagles last year including Laci Sandlin and Hadley French. The Indians will then face a Pulaski County team that went 19-12 last season and is losing only one graduating senior that contributed in the post season for the Lady Maroons last year.
