Event celebrates Montgomery ancestors, Shiloh Christian Church By Mike Watson The Memorial Day weekend was eventful for all, and in various ways. Christa Montgomery Gimbel, whose father was a native of the Joppa community of Adair County, hosted an event that celebrated not only her ancestor, Francis Montgomery, Sr., but also included the 150th anniversary of Shiloh Christian Church. Saturday saw a group of Montgomery descendants and visitors convene at the Trabue-Russell House on Jamestown Street to tour the house and hear its history from curator Mary Ann Loy. Afterward, the group, joined by others, met at the Adair Genealogy & History Research Center for a catered lunch, followed by an excellent program on the Montgomery family from ancient times to the present, presented by Mrs. Gimbel. KY General Fund, Road Fund receipts for March/April 2025 From John Hicks/Greg Harkenrider Frankfort, KY - The Office of State Budget Director reported on May 23 that March and April General Fund receipts declined by 6.4 percent compared to the same two-month period last year. This report combines the revenue receipts for the months of March and April. The Kentucky Department of Revenue has been implementing an initial phase of a new information technology system which has delayed the reporting. The decline in receipts was attributable mostly to the individual income tax. About half of that decline was due to the pass-through entity tax, which involved two tax years of activity during FY24 but just one tax year during the current year. Sales tax receipts were flat and major business taxes rose by five percent. Total General Fund receipts through the first 10 months of FY25 have declined slightly by 0.2 percent. The official revenue estimate calls for no revenue growth for the current fiscal year. To meet the official revenue estimate, receipts need to increase by 1.1 percent over the last two months of the fiscal year.
