Boil Water Advisory issued for Oak Street/Ashley Ct. Update: Boil Water Advisory lifted From Columbia/Adair Utilities District Date Issued 6/1/2023 Time Issued 12:30pmCT Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality. Carol Perkins: What makes me happy Previous Column: Serving Our Country By Carol Perkins I listen to podcasts while I'm driving. One of my favorites is "Literally" with Rob Lowe. Recently a guest was discussing his latest book, The Ikigai: The Japanese Secret To A Long And Happy Life by Francesc Miralles and Hector Garcia. I thought they were saying, IKY MAN." He talked about how we should find what we love to do and do it. One of his "DO" things was having personal interactions, and during Covid, he was hospitalized three times for emotional/mental breakdowns. Being alone nearly killed him. When he came out of Covid, he studied in a monastery to be an ordained monk. Searching for happiness led him there. After listening, I made a mental list of what I "Do" that makes me happy. Study: Seniors and older Kentuckians face food insecurity From Kaitlyn Jackson The latest "State of Senior Hunger" data from Feeding America shows Kentucky has the fourth highest rate of food insecurity among adults aged 50 to 59 in the nation. Only Arkansas, Delaware and Oklahoma were found to have higher rates. The study found that 6.9 percent of Kentucky seniors and 14.6 percent of older adults lacked regular access to enough food or had to make trade offs between food and other basic needs, such as medicine or housing. Kentucky also ranked seventh in the nation for seniors with very low food security, meaning these seniors are on the cusp of food insecurity. KSP: Post 15 to Conduct Traffic Safety Checkpoints From Trooper Jonathan Houk Kentucky State Police Post 15 will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints in the Post 15 area, which includes Green, Taylor, Marion, Washington, Russell, Casey, Adair, Metcalfe, Monroe, Clinton, and Cumberland counties. These checkpoints will be conducted as part of Post 15's highway safety efforts. Troopers will be checking for violations of Kentucky traffic and regulatory laws relating to motor vehicle equipment safety, licensing of drivers, motor vehicle registration, and operation of motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.
