Phillip Coffey: Hame Leg

Phillip Coffey: HAME LEG (Father of eleven)
Grandfather Cash Coffey was something special with all the words he 'up and said'
'Cern-ing con-tank-lee' after he exclaimed whatever he heard or thought in his head
With one long breath, giving grace prior to feeding all that at the table was setting
Exhaling, mumbling something or another, only 'Good Lord' understood, breaking bread.

Sure, do miss him, amongst his kinfolk now, hand signaling angel by his healed side
No chaw of Mammoth Cave chewing, I and many kin retrieved from his eldest son's store
'Hame leg' on earth, standing erect now - no sawed cane, stabilizing in his left hand
No hook at the end of his support to grab his fourth son, yanking him closer to 'straighten him out.'
