Coffey & Stotts, 1931

By JIM

In the late summer of 1931, Mr. Jo. F. Patteson, then 65 and in failing health, sold his interest in the Patteson & Stotts Funeral Home to S.F. "Sale" Coffey, with the establishment to retain the Patteson-Stotts name for the nonce.

Before the year ended, however, ads began appearing for Coffey & Stotts. Mr. Dallas Stotts was a licensed undertaker, and non-partner employee Fred Parrott, "well-known throughout the county," served as a licensed embalmer.

Coffey & Stotts was a fairly short lived partnership, ending somewhat abruptly in mid-summer 1934 with the Adair County News announcing in the August 1, 1934 edition that the establishment "is now under the sole management and ownership of Dallas Stotts and will operate under the name Dallas Stotts, Undertaker."
