"Right now we don't have to choose - we are able to be fiscally responsible while making record investments in our people and in our future," said Gov. Beshear. "The investments that we make now will benefit many generations to come and forever change our commonwealth."

"I'm saddened to learn about the passing of Larry Forgy, a pioneer in Kentucky Republican politics. To hear Larry deliver a speech was a real treat. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."

Early January Spring Growth

Click headline for photos

By Mike Watson

There has been and may soon be more severe weather in our area. For a number of years, Ed and I would keep close watch on growth of Spring vegetation. Most years we could find some promise during the first half of January. Sometimes much later.

These two photos were taken Monday morning, January 10, 2022, in my back yard in Harrodsburg as I headed to Columbia for the work week.

Does this mean false Spring? Early Spring? Or that we may have our first blossoms of the year peeping through a bit of snow.

I keep watch for the first bloom to come forth.

Letter: J.O.Y Ministries

Mary Bardin writes:
It makes me so happy to hear the amount of money raised by JOY ministriesI don't think the people of Adair County realize the many wonderful things these people do.

I work as case manager and see many people in need of food, clothing and shelter. I call Joy Ministry as I run across people at their lowest point, and often find Joy Ministry is already involved and willing to be a fabulous resource.

We never know when we may be a person in need of community resources. Many thanks to the people of JOY Ministries and also to the people that donate. --Mary Bardin
