Football: LWC downs Keiser after Carter sets program record

On a day that saw the renaming of the football complex to 'Parnell Family Stadium', the No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team (2-0, 0-0 MSC Bluegrass Division) defeated No. 4-ranked Keiser (Fla.) (1-1, 0-0 MSC Sun Division) 34-2 in a rematch of last season's NAIA Football Championship Series semifinal.

Cameron Dukes went 11 of 18 on the day throwing for 190 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Joshua Lewis twice for 94 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Jaylen Boyd returned to the Blue Raider offense today rushing for 89 yards on 19 carries.

Bonda Dean Taylor, 65, Adair County, KY (1956-2021)

Bonda Dean Taylor, 65, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

She was born May 20, 1956, in Adair County. Her parents were the late David Lee and Annabelle Shirley Taylor. Bonda was a member of First Baptist Church, an avid University of Louisville Fan and was always a big supporter of her family in whatever sport they were playing.

As of 1pmCT on Saturday, September 11, 2021, the Boil Water Advisory for customers starting on 2601-3091 FairPlay Rd. and 1662-2421 Hwy 55 S has been lifted by the Division of Water Columbia Office. This means your water is safe for human consumption. You no longer have to boil your water.

LWC Volleyball splits opening matches at Spartan Invitational

St. Louis, MO - The No. 20-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team (8-2, 2-0 MSC) split their results on the opening day of the Spartan Invitational. The Blue Raiders fell to No. 1-ranked Missouri Baptist in the opening match of the invitational but rallied back to upset undefeated No. 11-ranked Central Methodist in four sets.

LWC Football and renaming event is Saturday

COLUMBIA, Ky - The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team host No. 4-ranked Keiser (Fla.) at 1:30pmCT today, Saturday, September 11, 2021 in a top-5 showdown in Columbia.

Football will not be the only attraction on Saturday as Blue Raider Stadium will be renamed the Parnell Family Stadium at halftime. In addition to the renaming, Lindsey Wilson athletics is excited to bring back an annual tradition of Military Appreciation Day.

The renaming honors Drs. Allan and Bunny Parnell and family for their continued support of Lindsey Wilson College and its mission. Veterans and active military and their immediate families will be admitted for free to the game with their military identification as part of Military Appreciation Day.

COVID-19 Public Information Brief 9/10/2021

Of today's 385 reported cases, 346 (90%) were unvaccinated and 91 of today's cases (76%) were in individuals 18 years of age or younger. Please take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones. Consider getting the vaccine if you are eligible and haven't, and wear a mask when in indoor settings where there are large crowds.

Statewide Testing Positivity Rate: 14%.

Deaths: We are sad to report 4 new deaths since our last report. We have experienced a total of 543 deaths resulting in a 1.7% mortality rate (about 1 in 59) among known cases. This compares with a 1.29% mortality rate at the state level and a 1.61% mortality rate at the national level.
