Letter: COVID-19 vaccine sites in Columbia KY Adair

William C Grant writes:
How is it no one has a list of where vaccine sites are? Is there a site that the over 70 sign up?
William, thanks for writing. There are a few different ways that folks have been able to sign up for vaccinations, but we understand that it can be a confusing process, and this week's weather has taken attention away from the push to get everyone signed up.

Vaccine Sign-up Information:
If you're in Adair County, and you haven't already, we recommend getting on the TJ list as soon as they begin taking applications again (note that signups were closed due to weather from Feb 15 to Feb 19, and the links haven't come back online yet as of Saturday morning). TJ Regional Health is keeping a waiting list, so once you're on this list, you'll be in line when they have availability.

Both TJ Health Columbia and TJ Regional Health in Glasgow have been designated Regional Vaccine sites.

  • The Lake Cumberland District Health Department has taken appointments for vaccine alottments, but are currently all booked. Watch Columbia Magazine for the next announced day when they start booking appointments. These have been only by telephone so far.

  • govstatus.egov.com/kentucky-vaccine-map
The official Team Kentucky Vaccine Map shows all the current regional vaccine sites, and can be sorted by county. This page also has links to Kroger, Walgreens, Walmart, and Federal Program locations, all of which may have vaccines available at different times.

LCDHD COVID-19 Public Information Brief 2/19/2021

By Amy Tomlinson
Lake Cumberland District Health Department

Our cases continue to drop. We now have 6 counties in the "orange-critical" range of community-spread: Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Pulaski, and Wayne. Only 4 counties are in the "red-critical" range of community-spread: Adair, Green, Russell, and Taylor.

While some of this is weather related (folks didn't get tested during the blizzard), the numbers are going down on a world, national, state, and local level. This is due to 3 factors: 1) the vaccines are starting to work, 2) a substantial number of people have had and recovered from the disease, and 3) folks are still being careful with masking, avoiding crowds, and social distancing.

Until the vaccine is widely available, let's all do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19 by wearing our face coverings, avoiding crowds (especially in confined spaces), social distancing when around others, increasing our hand hygiene, increasing our general sanitation, and by avoiding touching our faces.

Statewide Testing Positivity Rate: 6.89%.
