Kroger regional vaccination sites will open Feb. 1

By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen

Frankfort, KY - Today, Gov. Andy Beshear, state officials and Kroger leadership announced a new partnership to significantly increase the speed of COVID-19 vaccinations across the commonwealth.

The first Kroger regional, drive-through vaccination sites will open the week of Feb. 1 for Kentuckians in Phase 1A, 1B and 1C. For more details on who is included in each phase, click here. On Jan. 28, the Governor said more details would be announced on site locations and how to sign up.

"Last year, when we were wondering when anybody who wanted a COVID-19 test would be able to get one, Kroger made that a reality. That testing partnership created the national model for surge testing," said Gov. Beshear. "These drive-through vaccination sites are fantastic news all Kentuckians, and we're grateful to the entire Kroger team for making it possible. Your help in this effort will save countless lives."

Carol Perkins: I am a scrapper

Previous Column: The perfect gift

By Carol Perkins

I am a scrapper. I miss Scrapbook Village. Several years ago, I dived into scrapbooking the same way I dive into most projects...full on!

My purchases didn't compare to those of my friends, but I bought more than enough decorative paper, photo stickers, pop dots that suited my theme. Almost as memorizing as a fabric store, the aisles of hobby stores drew me to the scrapbook department, but none could compare to Scrapbook Village. Bonnie Wilcome, owner and operator, made scrapbooking an art. I miss the store and her.

Once a year I attended the scrapbooking retreat at the Barren River Lodge, hosted by Scrapbook Village. In the large conference/ballroom, tables and chairs covered every inch of the floor. Two guests shared a banquet table with space to spread out supplies. Ladies brought in luggage, rolling carts, crates, collections of photos, and armloads of personal supplies.

Girlfriends came together, as well as mothers and daughters. We scrapped from early until late, and most women stayed until they couldn't complete one more page.

Letter: Cannabis plant could help so many who are suffering

Marie Freeman writes:
I wanted to share with you some documentation over the last years that I came across researching that I found very intriguing: cannabis-extract-report (PDF)

I definitely don't want anyone to get the impression that I am advocating for drug use because I am so against many pharmaceuticals! Or street drugs! They're not good for our community or our health. But I firmly believe this plant can help so many suffering.
