LWC Women's Basketball ends 2020 with 72-50 win By Christopher Coombs Georgetown, KY - After a 26 day break, the Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team willed their way to a 72-50 win over Georgetown (KY) at the Davis-Reed Alumni Gym on Thursday afternoon. The win marks the 13th straight for the Blue Raiders against the Tigers in a streak that dates back to the 2014-15 season. Reagan Turner once again led the Lindsey Wilson scoring effort with a game-high 25 points and four steals. Rose Mary Jackson was the only other Blue Raider in double-figures, scoring 13 points and seven rebounds. Letter: Lighting for Burkesville Road Response to City Of Columbia: State of the City address By Vicky Pike I am so glad the lighting issue along Burkesville Road is beginning to be considered by the city. It is an issue that really needs to be addressed in the coming year. I constantly hear folks saying I can hardly see where to turn into both shopping areas especially the Duo County Patricia Trail and Will Walker Lane entrance. I have advocated for several years the need for this area to receive lighting. I know it costs money but this area is used by most citizens of Adair as well as surrounding counties almost on a daily basis. I'm sure that our citizens would be thrilled with this area "coming into the light". I certainly will be willing to help in any way to see this happens in 2021. It took 6-7 years to get the Cumberland Parkway lighting but it was worth the wait. Congratulations to our city on all the past years accomplishments and looking forward to many more to come. Thanks to our hard working Columbia City Council members and Mayor Hoots on the many hours you put into making our community grow and prosper. Looking forward to working with all the current and new members of the Council to see our city moves forward yet again this coming year.
