LWC International Marketplace, Fri 26 Apr 2019 By Sabine Eastham Director, International Student Programs, Lindsey Wilson College Lindsey Wilson College will hold its annual International Marketplace on Friday, April 26, 2019. The food court opens at NoonCT, and presentations start at 1pmCT in the Doris and Bob Holloway Health & Wellness Center, 388 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. Ain't No Mountain High Enough- I am sure you have listened to that song before. As you can imagine, there is a lot of "behind the scenes" work going on to be able to pull off a festival of this magnitude; the planning, ordering, the scaling up for serving sizes (last year we had 400+ in attendance) and trying to work this in on a budget. This year the International Student Programs (ISP) decided to offer a unique advertising opportunity to help fund this event and will have all sponsor logos displayed at our "Wall of Sponsors." But it goes beyond that, from a Professor who graciously agreed to shop in a Specialty store in Louisville to save on postage cost and ended up paying for the entire order, to an even more elaborate attempt at saving postage. Carol Perkins: Evolving interests Previous Column: A time of traditions and spiritual renewal By Carol Perkins Some activities that were once very important to me now have little meaning. I was thinking about how my interests have evolved over time. One change that Guy never thought would happen is my lack of interest in shopping. Until I reached my fifties, shopping was a hobby. My purse was on my shoulder when someone said, "Let's go to the mall." At one time, I could point to the location of every bathroom in any familiar mall, whether in Louisville, Nashville, Bowling Green, or outlet malls all the way near Indianapolis or as far away as Gatlinburg.
