  • 9:15amCT Clean Up Adair County by picking up trash on roadways
  • 11:30amCT Return back to annex for Free t-shirts and giveaways (cash and gift cards)

Bread Man Paul Sullivan to be at FM2 opening 6 Apr 2019

The Farmers Market Bread Man has survived the flooding in Burkesville and a stint in the hospital but he is fully recovered and is baking like crazy. He says "Lord willing" he will see everyone on opening day.

Ernest C. Davis, 86, Russell County, KY (1932-2019)

He was of the Methodist faith. He started with Cundiff Dairy in 1945 then to Columbia Dairy in 1950 then started working with Cumberland Dairy in 1953 and Southern Belle and retired in 1997 for a total of 51 and a half years delivering milk to homes, stores, schools and restaurants.

Ernest C. Davis, age 86, of Russell Springs, KY passed away Thursday, April 04, 2019 at T. J. Samson, Glasgow.

Funeral services will be at 2pmCT Sunday April 07, 2019 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, 391 East Steve Wariner Drive, Russell Springs, with Bro. Garlin Wilson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday April 06, 2019 4-9pmCT at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Russell Springs City Cemetery, Lakeway Drive, Russell Springs, KY.

LWC Baseball on the road against Shawnee State

Lindsey Wilson baseball returns to Mid-South Conference action this weekend as they take on Shawnee State (OH) at Branch Rickey Park, 25 Mary Ann St, Portsmouth, OH. First pitch for Friday's action is set for 2pmCT, with Saturday's doubleheader slated for NoonCT.

The Blue Raiders (7-21, 2-7 MSC) hit the road after falling to Bryan (TN) 8-5 on Wednesday at Egnew Park.

Prayers requested for a good day, good news for Mitzi

Morning request: Columbia Magazine staffer Mitzi Bault, fighting a third round of cancer where she was told she had no hope, asks for "just a little prayer today" as she goes for tests and guidance for next steps. Her CM family asks not just little prayers, but for "huge prayers, and many of them" on her behalf. Thanks to everyone who is keeping her in thoughts and prayers! Click here for her story.

Fire Truck Gets Green Light from City Council

Columbia Fire Chief Mike Glasgow addressed the City Council this week concerning the station's dire need for two new vehicles - a pumper truck and a light body rescue truck.

Chief Glasgow initially presented the request in January with the committee that had included council members Ronald P. Rogers and Mark Harris.

Easter play scheduled at Bloomington Chapel 19 & 21 Apr 2019

Bloomington Chapel Church will be presenting an Easter Play, on April 19, 2019 at 6pmCT and on April 21, 2019 at 10am.

The Church is located at 55 Bloomington Church Road in Adair County, KY. The teens will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs after the play.

The runaway tortoise of Stearns

It's not every day that the average homeowner in downtown Stearns discovers an African native munching on dandelions in his/her front yard, but that's exactly what happened earlier this week when Mary Singleton discovered a runaway African spurred thigh (sulcata) tortoise on her front lawn.

Flabbergasted upon discovering a tortoise more than twice the length of her size eight, sneakered foot, Mary watched as the hungry reptile crawled around the yard plucking grass, wild violets, and ravenously devouring yellow dandelion blooms. In addition to grass, violets, and dandelions, the tortoise enjoyed chomping on some raw cabbage given to him by Mary.

KYTC officials postpone Fiscal Court appearance

Dr. Cate Fosl discusses Anne Braden during Women's History Month

Campbellsville, KY - "Well-behaved women rarely make history," Dr. Cate Fosl said at a Women's History Month presentation at Campbellsville University March 25. March became National Women's History Month in 1987. The month celebrates and honors the extraordinary achievements of American women.

Fosl, professor of women, gender and sexuality studies with the University of Louisville, who also serves as director of the University of Louisville Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research, discussed "Anne Braden: Unruly Women and The Struggle for Racial and Social Justice in Kentucky and The South."

Expect mostly cloudy skies overnight, with patchy fog after 4amCT, and an overnight low of 51F, with light and variable wind.

Saturday morning will bring patchy fog before 7amCT, and then partly sunny skies, with a high near 77F, and light and variable wind.

There is a 50 percent chance of showers after 1amCT on Saturday night. Clouds will increase overnight, with a low around 57F. East wind 3 to 6 mph. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are possible.
