Gerald L. Mclean, 76, Adair County, KY (1942-2018)

His McLean Construction Company renovated the Adair County Courthouse, constructed the John Adair School and the Adair County Library. He was the project manager for the Lindsey Wilson College Cranmer Dining Center, Fugate Science Building, Holloway Health and Wellness Center along with numerous other projects on the campus.

Gerald L. Mclean, 76, of Columbia, KY passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 at his residence after several months illness.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT Monday, November 26, 2018 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3pmCT on Sunday at the funeral home.

Rev. Troy Long will be officiating and pallbearers will be Dan Antle, Bob Clutterbuck, Terry Moore, Russell McQueary, Dr. Roger Smith and David Upchurch.

LWC Men's Basketballs drops 2nd straight overtime game

Columbia, MO - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team lost in overtime for a second straight day, falling 76-71 to Missouri Baptist on Saturday at the 2018 Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Columbia (MO) at the Southwell Complex.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7pmCT on Friday, Nov. 30, as the Blue Raiders host Central Penn at Biggers Sports Center, 360 Spickard Drive, Columbia, KY.

Veterans Art Exhibit will tour state

Frankfort, KY - The artwork of 41 artists, along with members of one American Legion post, has been selected for a Kentucky Arts Council exhibit that highlights the artwork of military veterans and their families.

The Kentucky Veteran Project Exhibit will be on display at the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort through Nov. 28. Beginning in December, it will travel around the state until December 2019 for view in a variety of venues.

It's Small Business Saturday

U.S. Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon is encouraging Americans to support local communities by shopping at small businesses on Saturday, November 24. Celebrated each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Small Business Saturday allows consumers to make a tremendous impact in their neighborhoods by supporting a local small business.

Last year, an estimated 108 million consumers nationwide "shopped small" on Small Business Saturday.

This year marks the ninth Small Business Saturday, an annual celebration of America's small business community. Last year on Small Business Saturday, Americans spent a combined $12 billion at independent neighborhood retailers and restaurants.

Hardin Co. wedding venue pocketed couples' money

KY AG Andy Beshear seeking nearly $30,000 in restitution for at least seven couples

Frankfort, KY - A Hardin County wedding venue owner is facing legal action from Attorney General Andy Beshear for allegedly conning at least seven couples weeks before their weddings by canceling the events or by not providing contracted services.

Eastview-based Gabriella Farm LLC, located at 13943 Leitchfield Road and its sole owner Nicolle Thompson, are being sued in Hardin Circuit Court by Beshear's office for deceptive business practices under Kentucky's Consumer Protection Act.

The lawsuit and lien were filed on November 21, 2018, by Beshear's Office of Consumer Protection.

Jack Eastridge, 84, Elk Horn, KY (1934-2018)

Jack was a retired dairy and grain farmer and loved every aspect of farming, as well as hunting birds, raccoons and rabbits. When not out farming or hunting, he could be found sitting at the kitchen table, looking out at his cattle and the countryside. Even with such hardworking and honest traits, he was still a huge cut-up and loved to joke around.

Jack Eastridge of Elk Horn, KY, died at 12:15pmET, Tuesday, November 20, 2018, in Elk Horn. He was 84 years old.

The funeral service will be 2pmET on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY, with Bro. Doug Roberts and Bro. Donnie Blick officiating. Burial will follow in Eastridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4pmET until 8pmET on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

It's been a joyous TG on the Lane before treatment begins again

Our Mitzi Bault is going through a major health challenge that her family and friends had hoped was in the past. Cancer, which she has beat twice over the last eleven years, has returned. One weekend she and I were out taking pictures, the next she was hospitalized for tests and handed the very hard news. She was allowed to come home to McKinley Lane for the holiday, thankfully.

She knows how to pack every second full of life and love and wrote that it has been a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday before going back to Louisville next week.

KY Student-Athletes Invited to apply for scholarships

Six Scholarships Will Be Awarded. Student-athletes must apply online by Jan. 22, 2019, at khsaa.org.

Frankfort, KY - Kentucky student-athletes with ties to agriculture may apply for one of six scholarships and the honor of being recognized as a 2019 Kentucky Ag Athlete of the Year.

The program is a partnership of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA).

"Students who participate in athletics and work in agriculture must juggle work, sports, and studies to achieve their goals," Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles said. "This program is a way we can recognize their hard work and sacrifice while helping them continue their education."

Rhiannon Cravens participates in Indy Circle of Lights

Fifth grader Rhiannon Cravens' passion for art has landed her a spot on stage during Downtown Indy, Inc.’s Circle of Lights tree lighting ceremony this weekend.

Beth Cravens writes:
Grandmother Audrey Waggener sure would have been proud of her great-great-granddaughter, Jean Cravens great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Cravens. We are so proud of her and her artistic abilities. We are looking forward to the Indianapolis tree lighting this evening, and we are so excited that Rhiannon gets to be on the stage during this annual celebration, which is televised locally.

Herbert Richard, 89, Columbia, KY (1929-2018)

Herbert was a member of Gradyville Baptist Church, a retired custodian of the Adair County School System and Adair Memorial Hospital. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and was an avid UK fan.

Herbert Richard, 89, of Columbia, died Thursday, November 22, 2018 at 11:10amCT at T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 11amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with burial to follow in Antioch Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 4:30pmCT on Monday, November 26, 2018.
