Public invited to attend Brownfield Program meeting 24 Oct 2018

The public is encouraged to attend and learn how the Brownfield Program could benefit their individual community.

The Lake Cumberland Brownfields Committee will meet Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 11:30amCT in the Lake Cumberland Area Development District (LCADD) offices, 2384 Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs, KY. The opportunity will also be offered online for any who cannot attend in person.

Mr. Dillingham chose cremation and there will be no visiting or services held.

David Wayne Sneed, 65, Columbia, KY (1953-2018)

Wayne attended the Shiloh Christian Church, he had served in the National Guard and was a self-employed auto body mechanic for several years.

David Wayne Sneed, 65, of Columbia, KY passed away at his home on October 10, 2018.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 2:00pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY. Bro. Terry Shelley & Bro. Cody Willis will officiate. Interment will follow in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 4:30pmCT on Sunday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

LWC Men and Women's Soccer hits the road to face Cumberland

The Lindsey Wilson men and women's soccer teams hit the road to face off against fellow Mid-South Conference competitor Cumberland University at Lindsey Donnell Stadium, Lebanon, TN, at NoonCT and 2pmCT on Sunday.

The No. 14 Lindsey Wilson women's team (5-2-2, 3-0-1 MSC) is coming off an 8-0 road victory over Pikeville (Ky.) on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders were led by Emelie Liljered who netted goals in the 43rd and 68th minutes of the match. Kajsa Conradsen, Sina Cavelti, Sanna Svensson, Alicia Thoresen, and Talia Johnson all found the back of the net for the Blue Raiders in the match.

Boil Water Advisory Edmonton Road

Columbia/Adair Utilities District

As of 4:30pmCT on October 13, 2018, a boil water advisory is in effect for consumers of Columbia Adair Utilities District for customers from 3098 Edmonton Road to 7435 Edmonton Road and all side roads in between. The advisory has been issued due to main line leak.

Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore the boil water advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.

Russell Springs UMC Homecoming and Revival Events

It's Downtown Days in Columbia, KY Saturday 13 Oct 2018

The annual Downtown Days fall festival continues in Columbia, KY all day today and into a big concert this evening! Click on 'local events' in the menu for a listing of the activities for all ages throughout the day and evening.

Booths open around the square at 8:30amCT and there's something happening every hour until the Ty Herndon free country music concert at 7pmCT. It's a cool fall morning with temperatures predicted to not quite reach into the 60s today, so jackets and sweaters are in order. Have a great festival day in Columbia!

Alfred L. Wooldridge, 76, Jamestown, KY (1941-2018)

He served in the US Navy and was a retired Construction/Mining Worker.

Alfred L Wooldridge, 76, of Jamestown, KY, passed away on Thursday October 11th in Jamestown.

Funeral Services will be at the H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N. Main St., Jamestown, KY, on Sunday October 14, 2018, at 2:00pmCT, with Bro. Leon Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in the Murray Cemetery, with Military Honors by the Russell County Honor Squad.

Friends may visit on Saturday, October 13 after 5:00pmCT at the funeral home.

LWC Volleyball sweeps matches against Xavier and Fisk

The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team played two matches at Biggers Sports Center on Friday where they were able to produce 3-0 sweeps over both Xavier (La.) and Fisk (Tenn.). With the wins the Blue Raiders move to 22-3 on the season.
