Frances Salyers: Phillip Coffey story on Meat Skin Road name.

Frances Salyers writes what she found out from Phillip Coffey:
This is what Phillip shares:
"the road we now call Weed-Sparksville Road' was built by the W.P.A.(Worker Progress Administration.) The funds for the W.P.A. were supplied after the enactment of the N.R.A. (National Recovery Act).

The pay was very low for laborers. Upon seeing the small payment for his labor Mr. Emment Parnell proclaimed, 'All that can be purchased with these wages is a few meatskins, hence 'Meatskin Road'. Story shared with myself and others by Uncle Ural Coffey (1909-2004) many times . . .Not sure about the spelling of Mr.Parnell's first name. This is what I found out from -Phillip Coffey. "
