Adair Co. Fire Dept roadblocks up again Sun morning, 3 Jun 2018

Collections being received from 8-10amCT in efforts to beat the best! Firemen will leave downtown Columbia at 10amCT to turn in the money in Louisville - first time in many years because of the generosity of donors; one more push this morning and they hope to beat their best total ever. Still time to give on the square and at the Firehouse!

By Donald Hare, Public Information Officer

There was a change in plans for the Columbia/Adair County Fire Department. We did not turn in our total at the regional turn-in in Campbellsville planned for 3pmCT, Saturday. Instead, after a final count being so close, we have decided to have roadblocks again on Sunday morning, June 3, 2018.

From Sherry Bray
Kentucky State Police HQ, Public Information Branch

FRANKFORT, KY (Fri 1 Jun 2018) - With the mercury on the rise this week, KSP is warning parents not to leave a child alone in a hot car. It may seem like common sense, but every year law enforcement officers respond to calls about unattended children in vehicles.

According to the safety organization Kids and Cars*, 44 children died in 2017 of hyperthermia as a result of being left in a hot car. These include instances where a child has been forgotten in a car, accidentally locks themselves in a car or trunk or, in a small number of cases, when a child has been intentionally left in a car.
