Dixie Lee Davis, 79, Glasgow, formerly of Adair County, KY (1938-2018)

Dixie Lee Rubarts Davis was a member of the Columbia Christian Church. She owned and operated the This & That business in Columbia, KY and had worked at Roses in Elizabethtown, KY. She was the daughter of the late Carson Neal & Mary Gladys Grant Rubarts of the highly regarded Adair County Rubarts family. Her husband Kenneth A Davis, Glasgow, KY, survives. She leaves 37 direct and six step- living descendants.

Dixie Lee Davis age 79 years of Glasgow, KY, formerly of Adair County, passed away Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at 7:05amCT at the TJ Samson Community Hospital Emergency Room in Glasgow, KY.

Graveside services will be held Saturday February 24, 2018 at 12noonCT at Tabernacle Cemetery with Clergy officiating Bro. Stanley Watson. Interment will be in Tabernacle Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, February 23, 2018 from 4pmCT to 8pmCT, and Saturday from 7amCT until 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY.

Lisa Turner Brown, formerly of Adair County, KY (1961-2018)

She is being remembered as a loving wife, mother and entrepreneur. She loved action movies, The Houston Astros, The Dallas Cowboys, music and most of all her family and friends. She was a proud Ken-Texan, and has the t-shirts to prove it. She was also an avid reader. She battled chronic pain for a long period of her life, but thankfully she is now free from suffering. She was a beautiful and complicated person, and she will be intensely missed.

Lisa Turner Brown, formerly of Adair County, KY, born February 9, 1961, passed away February 14, 2018 in Texas.

A Memorial Service was held for her Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 3803 W Lake Houston Parkway, Kingwood, TX. A local service is planned for March 17, 2018 when family and friends will gather at the Russell Springs United Methodist Church and share remembrances of Lisa after which her ashes will be spread at the site of the family farm in Adair County, KY.

Kayaking: Two enthusiasts take first trip of the year

Columbia, KY, Mon 19 Feb 2018 - Robyn Curry and I made our first kayaking trip of the year today.

We put in at Mt. Carmel and paddled up as far as we could go in Butler Branch. There was a tree down across the water and we had to turn around.

Gregory B. (Greg) Parrish, 57, Burkesville, KY (1961-2018)

He was a member of a highly regarded South Central Kentucky family. His mother, Katherine Huddleston Parrish, Columbia, KY, survives. He leaves three direct living descendants. His brother, Perry Parrish, and niece Rachel Parrish, Columbia, KY also survive. He was of Methodist faith, a member of Parrish Chapel United Methodist Church, and a Farmer.


Mr. Gregory Bruce "Greg" Parrish, age 57, of Burkesville, KY, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018 at The University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service for Mr. Gregory Bruce "Greg" Parrish will be conducted on Wednesday February 21, 2018, at 2pmCT, in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, KY. The family will receive friends after 11amCT, on Wednesday February 21, 2018, until the funeral hour.

Brenda Louise Dicken, 69, Taylor County, KY (1948-2018)

She professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a native of Columbus, IN, and a resident of Campbellsville at the time of her death. She was the matriarch of a large respected family, the daughter of the late Marvin Caldwell & Beulah Burton Caldwell. Her husband of 43 years, Leonard L. Dicken, survives. She leaves 36 direct living descendants.

Traffic alert: Stotts Construction at Frazier/Burkesville crossing

Monday February 19, 2018, Stotts Construction Co., Inc. will be working on the 400 block of Burkesville Street in front the Masonic Lodge. E. Frazier and W. Frazier will be closed where they intersect with Burkesville Street. We ask that the public use caution, slow down and avoid these areas where possible, be mindful of the safety of the construction crew and expect some delays in traffic. Lee, 41, of Pike County, KY, was convicted by a federal jury yesterday, of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, two counts of aiding and abetting bank fraud, two counts of misapplication of bank moneys by a bank employee, and four counts of making unauthorized obligations by a bank employee.

Dallas Graybeal, Taylor County, KY (1936-2018)

He was a professed Christian and a attended Palestine Baptist Church. He was a very skilled carpenter and worked hard at everything in life. He was self employed, specializing in installing windows and doors and was highly skilled in the application of aluminum siding. He was the patriarch of a very large, highly regarded family with deep roots in Taylor and Adair Counties and elsewhere in South Central Kentucky.Even though he loved working, nothing compared to his love for family. He was the son of the late Bascom & Alice Osborn Graybeal, and the widower of Frances Herron Graybeal, his wife of over 58 years.
