Jalisa Shanee Lavee Smith, 29, Louisville, KY (1988-2018)

She was a former student of the University of Louisville, loved shopping, cooking and especially taking care of her boys. She was a very friendly lady with a very outgoing personality which shined with her love of organizing family gatherings. She was the daughter of Jaron S. Teague & Rachel Smith-Calvillo. She leaves two direct descendants, sons, Milo and Silas Helton. She had made a profession of faith in Christ several years ago and was a member of Pleasant Union Baptist Church in Taylor County, KY. Her final resting place will be in the church cemetery.

Jalisa Shanee Lavee Smith, 29 years, 11 months and 13 days of age, of Louisville, KY, died Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Louisville.

Funeral services for Jalisa Smith will be conducted at 12pmCT/1pmET, Tuesday, January 30, at Pleasant Union Baptist Church, 426 Fallen Timber Road, Campbellsville, KY, with Rev. Michael Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with bearers being, Junior Smith, Miguel Sanchez, Adrian Turner, Damon Forcelledo, Daniel Arellana and Cameron Turner. The family requests visitation on 10am-12pmCT/11am-1pmET, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 11 prior to the funeral at the church.

Election 2018: Sen Wise, Rep Carney have filed for re-election

A check Sunday morning, 28 Jan 2018, of the State Board of Elections indicates that the incumbent State Senator for the 51st District which includes Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Russell, and Taylor Counties , and the incumbent 51st Kentucky (Adair & Taylor Counties) state representative, have filed for re-election and both are unopposed in their re-election bids, according to the Kentucky Board of Elections website, checked at 11:02amCT, Sunday, January 28, 2018.

No. 2 LW Men's Basketball holds off No. 5 Georgetown, 76-74

Bryan Wallace finished with his first double-double of the season with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Jordan Hamlette posted 17 points and made 4-of-5 three pointers. Kel Stotts had 15 points and Erhardt finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. Game played before crowd of 678. FULL STATS

GEORGETOWN, KY - (Sat 28 Jan 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team was able to hold off a furious comeback attempt by Georgetown (KY) as the Blue Raiders topped the Tigers 76-74 on Saturday at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

The No. 2-ranked Blue Raiders (20-2, 5-2 Mid-South Conference) saw a 14-point lead diminish in the final minutes, but the fifth-ranked Tigers (19-3, 4-3 MSC) had their buzzer-beating game-winner ruled out after the ball hit the support beam of the backboard before going in the hoop as the horn sounded.

KSP arrest Hickman City man on murder charge

Incident occurred in Fulton County Saturday afternoon; 46-year-old suspect arrested and lodged in Fulton County Jail. Autopsy scheduled in Kentucky Medical Examiner's office on Monday.
NOTE Charges/allegations/arrests are not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by law enforcement is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

KY Carfentanil death case: Ohioan gets life imprisonment terms

TOPIC: OPIOIDS and DRUG TRAFFICKING: Ohio man's co-defendant was found guilty of the same charges and was recently sentenced by Judge Danny C. Reeves to serve terms of imprisonment of 420 months as to each of the counts of distribution resulting in death or serious bodily injury, and 240 months for the conspiracy charge. All counts were ordered to run concurrently.

U.S. Department of Justice, Eastern District of Kentucky

LEXINGTON, KY. - (Fri 26 Jan 2018) Robert Lee Shields, 30, of Cincinnati, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge Danny C. Reeves to serve two terms of life imprisonment for distribution of carfentanil that resulted in death and serious bodily injury.

Shields was convicted after a jury trial in Lexington in July 2017. The jury found Shields guilty of all counts, including conspiracy to distribute carfentanil, fentanyl and heroin, distribution of carfentanil resulting in death and distribution of carfentanil resulting in serious bodily injury.

No. 8 LWC Women's Basketball rolls past Georgetown 74-44

Kayla Styles posted her conference-leading 12th double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Georgetown led by Kennedy Flynn with 10 points in the loss.

GEORGETOWN, KY - (27 Jan 2018) The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team stormed past Georgetown (KY) 74-44 on Saturday afternoon at Davis-Reid Alumni Gym.

After a 14-14 tie following the first quarter, the eighth-ranked Blue Raiders (17-4, 4-2 MSC) outscored the Tigers (7-15, 1-6 MSC) 60-30 across the final 30 minutes of play, including a 25-9 advantage in the fourth quarter en route to the convincing win.
