Scenic Adair County, KY: A fleeting Adair County moment

2017-12-26 - L. Hancock Road, Near Vester, KY - Photo by Ed Waggener,
This is a photo of reflections on the surface of a pond on L. Hancock Road at Sulphur Creek. It was flipped in processing. It was taken from what is the top of the frame, on a grassy verge. But it was fun to leave it this way, with what looks to be a little snow on a flood wall or dike, which might be a good idea. Paired photo tells more. - EW

Letter: Greensburg house was the house I grew up in

Roger Rucker writes:
This is the house I grow up in, My father Gerald Rucker bought this house after transferring to Green Co. from Adair with Taylor Co. RECC. The tan house just below it, just beside the lamp post, is the old Greensburg Academy were Mentor Graham taught school. Mentor Graham is credited with providing Abraham Lincoln’s formal education. Years later my father returned back to Adair Co. along with my brother, sister and myself. So no matter were the picture is, or where you are, there are ties to Adair Co. --Roger Rucker

Roger, thank you so much for letting us know a bit about this special location! It would be nice to also know what it was like living there -- thinking there must have been a lot of good exercise gained if you walked up and down it. Driving in snow probably was very interesting from that hillside! -- LW

Birthdays: Remember the Tweeners

Those born between the big holidays. Seems their birthdays often get overlooked too much - you can help us change that.

There are some really important anniversaries, birthdays, and in memory birthdays this morning on CM, but the total number - 28 is quite small for CM listings. It's likely because there is so much going on, birthdays in this period are overlooked.

See if there is a friend or family member missing from CM Special Events - The Daily List of Birthdays, In Memory Birthdays, and Anniversaries, then let us know who ought to be on the list but who's missing.

Use the Contact Form. If you have trouble, call 270-250-2730.
