Walmart Veterans breakfast to be at VFW building 11 Nov 2017

A First, a history making event

The annual Walmart Veterans Day breakfast will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2017 starting at 8amCT. It will be held at the new VFW building at 500 Green Hills Road, Columbia, KY.

Columbia Walmart Associate Shea Koenig sent word of the date and time. Traditionally a ceremony will follow the breakfast at 9amCT.

This will be the first time for this event in the new VFW building at its new location.

Gloria Jean Tedder Brown, Taylor Co., KY/Adair Co., KY native (1929-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was an active member of Southside Christian Church. She was a floor lady at Fruit of the Loom from which she retired after 48 years of service. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gloria was famous for her teeny-weenie muffins and fried apple pies. She was born in Adair County, KY, a member of a leading North Adair County, KY family. She was the daughter of the late Delbert Lee Greer & Gladys Leora Chelf Greer. She was the widow first of Carl Tedder and later Roscoe Brown. She leaves nine direct living descendants.

The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Bro. Brad Walden and Bro. David Detty. Burial will be in Adair County, Roley Cemetery, Adair County, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Monday, October 30, 2017, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home. Pallbearers: Lloyd Hicks, Chad Kelly, Barry Rose, Jess Tedder, Luke Tedder, and Shane Tedder.

COLUMBIA KY - (29 Oct 2017) - The No. 21-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team opened the season with a 76-47 victory over Central Penn (PA) at Biggers Sports Center on Sunday.

The Blue Raiders (1-0) tallied 39 points from beyond the arc as LWC connected on 13-of-25 attempts from deep.

Columbia Rotary Auction is Mon-Tue, 13-14 Nov 2017

The Columbia Rotary Club, part of Rotary International, will hold its annual Rotary Auction live on Monday and Tuesday, November 13 and 14, 2017, 6pmCT-9pmCT, on both local radio stations, WAIN and WHVE. The call in phone number is 270-384-8101. Items include University of Kentucky basketball tickets, pocket knives, jewelry, hand made crafts, gift certificates and many other items. The main proceeds of this auction go to Lindsey Wilson College for scholarships for local students. If you have an item you would like to donate, please call Durham and Zornes at 270-384-4411. We hope you’ll tune in both nights and help our local students have the opportunity to attend college.

Kaylee Ann Whitaker's photo on Woodrow reminded me of the many special things about our birthday girl! She's riding on a mule in this picture; she loves to ride with her dad Jason Whitaker. They have Hillbilly Buck Creek Kennels where her dad trains Beagles, Blue Tick Hounds and Mules like Woodrow. Kaylee is a sophomore at Pulaski Co High-school and she and her mom Amy and family live in the community of Shopville KY. Grandparents are Ricky and Mitzi Bault of Columbia and Barbara and Morris Minks Somerset and her Great Grandma is Fay McKinley of Columbia. All of us are very proud of her! --Mitzi

Freshman Class at LWC visits Adair County Primary Center

The Freshman Class from Lindsey Wilson College visited Adair County Primary Center on Friday, October 20, with a wonderful surprise for all of the 2nd grade students. Each year, the freshman class, under the guidance of freshman advisor, Ben Martin, participate in a program called One Size Fits All. They collect school supplies, snacks, tolietry items and small toys and fill a backpack for every 2nd grade student in our school district. This is a special day for everyone involved.

New artist work being displayed at Pence-Chowning Art Gallery

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY -- Howard El-Yasin, assistant director at Yale University Graduate School of Art and Science, will exhibit "Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?" at Campbellsville University's Pence-Chowning Art Gallery from Oct 30-Nov 16, 2017.

An artist talk will be Oct. 30 at 3pmET at the Art Building at 205A followed by an opening reception at the Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, 205 University Drive, Campbellsville, KY. All events are free and open to the public.

Adair County Primary Center Fall Festival report

On Friday, October 20, Adair County Primary Center had its annual Fall Festival. The event was sponsored by the Rocket Boosters organization at the school. Students and their families had a great night of fun, food and festivities. Thanks to all of our parents and community members who made the night a success. COLUMBIA, KY - (Thu 26 Oct 2017) The Lindsey Wilson women's swim program received a No. 8 ranking in the first NAIA Men's Swim and Dive Coaches' Top 10 Poll of the 2017-18 season, officials from the national office announced on Thursday.

The Blue Raiders collected 16 total voting points in the poll from the committee. A committee will conduct the Top 10 rating five times during the season. The committee consists of five current NAIA Swimming and Diving Coaches and use the most current "top times" as the primary source of ranking.
