Kathryn Krug: Bunch of Good Samaritans came to her aid

When car broke down near the Adair-Russell County line, so many stopped to check on their welfare

By Kathryn Krug

Last Sunday, my son and I were driving from Columbia to Jamestown. Within a few feet of the Russell County line, the car broke down. While we were waiting for Triple-A to arrive, a Kentucky Highway Safety truck, then two State Trooper cars, and then four passers-by all stopped to see if we needed help. The first passer-by asked if we needed to use her cell phone.

The second offered us her umbrella, to keep, if we were too hot. The next was a fellow who came over and prayed for us and with us. Finally there was a couple who gave us each a bottle of water and a bottle of Gatorade. Now I'm not saying those who drove on past were heartless; they probably figured, correctly, that we had a cell phone and were being taken care of. But the ones who stopped sure warmed our hearts and made us feel a little better about this ol' human race we belong to. - Kathryn Krug

Food art critic Billy Joe Fudge renders astute assessment

Comments re photo 74008 Epicurean Kentuckian Make do poorhouse warmed over breakfast

Billy Joe Fudge offers critique:
But such an artistic presentation. It carries a certain visual, pierian effect and appears to be much more palatable than most retread meals. --
Thanks: Appreciate the comment even before any splaining was put on the picture. It is the work of my first wife, who never admitted what a great cook she is to avoid Potluck Entrapment. In some circles, it is unwise to admit one can type or make good "potatis salad." - EW
