KSP warns of danger as summer heats up KSP Sgt. Michael Webb says while a person will face criminal charges for leaving a child in a car, the pain and guilt from making such a mistake will last far longer. By Sherry Bray, Kentucky State Police FRANKFORT, KY - As the Kentucky summer is heating up, so is your car and KSP reminds parents not to leave a child alone in a hot car. It may seem like common sense, but every year law enforcement agencies answer calls about unattended children in vehicles. KidsandCars.org reports that 32 children died in the U.S. during 2014 from vehicular heat stroke. KSP spokesman Sgt. Michael Webb says vehicle heat stroke is often misunderstood by the general public. A majority of parents are misinformed and would like to believe that they could never 'forget' their child in a vehicle. The Eubank-Stewart handmade hatchet: where is it now? By JIM The following article appeared on the front page of the November 24, 1920 edition of the Adair County News under the headline "An Old Relic" - Miss Sallie Stewart, of this place, a few days ago, presented to Mr. Albia Eubank a handmade hatchet which was made my Mr. Eubank's great-grandfather, Mr. Jo Eubank, in 1835. It had been in the Stewart family since Mr. William Stewart was five years old, it having been given him by his father, Mr. John Stewart, who doubtless had it made. Miss Stewart takes a pride in keeping relics, but she concluded that it would be proper to turn this one over to the maker's great-grandson, who prizes it very highly.(In 1920, Miss Stewart, then 77, resided in the suburbs of Columbia, out Greensburg Road. Mr. Albia Eubank was 26 and resided on Bomar Heights with his parents and his wife, the former Miss Charlotte Bardenhoff. He passed in 1971. Mr. William Stewart, Miss Eubank's brother to whom the hatchet had belonged, was born in the fall of 1830 and died in the summer of 1904.) - JIM 2015-07-13 02:13:54 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Jim: History
