Travel: Crash clean-up slows SB 1-65 near Smith's Grove

By Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer
KY Transportation Cabinet, District 4, Elizabethtown, KY

(March 15, 2014: 5:33pmCT) - A multivehicle crash from this afternoon on I65 southbound just north of the Smith's Grove exit continues to create travel problems through South-Central Kentucky.

Traffic on I-65 is moving slowly at the scene, with the left shoulder open for vehicles to pass through. Traffic backup on the interstate is also creating high volume and congestion on US 31W north of the crash site. Motorists are urged to be patient along the corridor and local motorists should use caution, especially at intersections along US 31W.

Cleanup continues and is estimated to last another 2 hours. After the scene is clear, it will take time for congestion to dissipate.
