Only those who have lost a pet comrade can fathom the grief

Comments re photo 47566 A farewell to Blue

By Jon Halsey

Folks who haven't experienced the long term companionship and love of an animal cannot possibly fathom the grief we feel when the comrade is gone.

I still grieve for a beloved pet that passed thirteen years ago, even though I am very close to and have bonded with others since.

It helps to relive the good times and those special moments and what made our pet unique. Eventually the sadness lets up some and we become thankful for being allowed to have had that special relationship.

For those few who want to criticize our emotional attachment with our pets, We'll plow our own field thank you.

A Farewell to Blue

Click on headline for tribute with photo(s)

By Wendy Gousha

Today is a quiet day on Little Cake and Neat Hollow. I had to say goodbye to my best friend and most loyal companion.

The Last Battle
If it should be that I grow frail and weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this--the last battle--can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
Don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so.
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me til the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don't grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We've been so close--we two--these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears. Author Unknown
Blue was a very special animal and he was greatly loved and will be greatly missed...

A special note to Dr. Janice Coffey, Missy and April at Coffey's Vet Center and to all of her staff. Thank you for being there and for your compassion and for your patience with me. This team of wonderful human beings have gone above and beyond for me and my animals and saying thank you is never enough. - Wendy C. Gousha
