History: Farmers Bank of Cane Valley, Tampico Lodge Click on headline for item with photo(s) 2012 Adair Genealogy & History Book Fair By Historians Mike Watson and his cousin JIM The Farmers' Bank of Cane Valley was organized in 1906 with a capital stock of $15,000 and opened its doors for business on Wednesday, January 2nd, 1907 in a just-completed building, "a two-story brick, 24 x 46 feet," erected by Mr. Robert Casey at an estimated cost of $3,000. The original bank officers were S.G Banks, President; F.P. Rice, VicePresident; and O.W. McAlllister, Cashier. The bank closed in September 1910, a victim of the "panic" (recession) of 1910-11. It reopened in 1919 and closed its doors forever in January, 1941. The stairs shown in the accompanying photo led (in later years) to the TampicoLodge meeting hall.
