Jessie Reeves Aaron (1915-2010) The life of an a exceptionally lovely woman who so enriched the lives of Adair Countians for the better part of a century is shared in favorite portraits selected by her daughter, Jane Aaron, to remember the stages in her mother's life, from a pretty teenager, to radiant beauty with the twinkling blue eyes in the center photo, taken January 22, 2007, with a Christmas amaryllis given to her by her daughter Susan Remek. Mrs. Aaron was 91 years old at the time. Mrs. Aaron was the mother of two outstanding men of medicine, the late Dr. Steve Aaron and Dr. Phil Aaron, and shared a lifetime romance with her late husband, Dr. Oris Aaron, long time Columbia surgeon.

Obituary: Jessie Reeves Aaron, Adair Co., KY

"Miss Jessie" was the head of the highly distinguished Aaron family of Columbia, KY. She was a registered nurse who assisted her surgeon husband in his early practice. She was a leader in women's clubs in Elizabethtown and Columbia. She spearheaded the successful drive to save the historic Trabue-Russell House. She was a member of the Columbia Baptist Church, She never forgot her ties to the congregation at the little Shiloh Christian Church in which she worshipped as a child growing up in Ozark. She was truly an Adair County treasure, whose beautiful presence, radiant warmth, wonderful wit and gracious hospitality will be long remembered.

Jessie Reeves Aaron, wife of the late Dr. Oris Aaron, died early Tuesday evening, May 25, 2010, at Westlake Cumberland Hospital in Columbia, KY.

Funeral services for Jessie Reeves Aaron will be at 11amCT, Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Raymond Martin the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Friday, May 28, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Reeves family cemetery.

The Adair County Fair Concession Stand Auction 2010 for the Adair County Fair (July 5-10) will take place Saturday, June 5, 2010, at 1pmCT at the Adair County Fairgrounds on KY 206 at 413 Fairgrounds ST, Columbia, KY. 10% of the leased bid and 10% clean-up deposit shall be paid on the day of the auction. The Adair County Fair Association reserves the right to refuse or reject any or all bids. Any announcement made the day of the auction supercedes prior announcements. Columbia City Pool opens Saturday, May 29, 2010

The Columbia City Pool, at the City Park in the Adair County Fairgrounds, 413 Fairground ST, Columbia, KU, will be opening Saturday, May 29, 2010 for the summer. The regular pool hours for this summer will be Monday - Saturday, noon to 5:00pmCT and Sundays 1:00pm to 5pmCT.

The admission will be $2.00 a day and three year old and under are free with a paying adult. The regular pool hours for this summer will be Monday - Saturday, Noon to 5:00pmCT and Sundays 1:00pm to 5pmCT.

RAPID CITY, S.D. - The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team is 10th following the opening round of the NAIA National Championships at Meadowbrook Golf Course, 3625 Jackson Boulevard, Rapid City, SD.

The Blue Raiders bookend their solid play with struggles to open and close the round en route to a team-total 322. Lindsey Wilson trails first round leader University of British Columbia (301) by 21 strokes entering Wednesday's second round.
