Raising of Holladay Place Bowl tentatively set for May 28, 2010

Lenny Stone, General Manager of the Adair County Water District, has announced a tentative date for the raising of the bowl of the one million gallon water tank at Holladay Place.

Caldwell Tank Company has set May 28, 2010, as the likely date for the 36-ft tall bowl to be raised by a single crane to top the 100 ft. tall concrete column.

The ascension will take approximately one hour. Sky walker construction workers will ride the bowl to the top.

The bowl will travel 100 feet in approximately one hour. It is expected to be quite a show. But stadium seating won't be available. "The best anyone can do is stand a safe distance away or have a tailgate party during the show," General Manager Stone said. The exact time for the operation hasn't been set, he added.

Once completed, the bowl of the tank will be carry a giant sign with the Blue Raider logo and the announcement to travelers east and west on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway that Columbia is the home of Lindsey Wilson College.
